Students explore the scientific principles of plant and animal production, and investigate the structures and functions of agricultural plants and animals, to extend their understanding and application of the requirements for plant and animal growth.
Students analyse innovative research in farming methods and the role of technology in developing more efficient production processes. They develop their social capability and ethical and intercultural understanding by examining local and global concerns.
The following topics are covered:
• Topic 1: Principles of Agriculture
– Agricultural Production Skills
– Innovation and Technology
• Topic 2: Enterprise Management
– Business Planning
– Environmental Management
A minimum of 8 to 10 hours of class time would involve practical activities run on Kelsey Farm which forms part of OAS.

• Applications 50%
Students will be expected to complete four assessment tasks over the course of the semester.

• One science as a human endeavour exploration
• At least one applications task
Length: One Semester.
SACE Attainment: 10 Credits.
