Learning Area: Business, Enterprise and Technology – Material Studies
Students focus on properties of materials, as well as the use of technology in the manufacturing industry.
The program has a practical orientation with supporting investigation and design.
Students will be required to follow a working drawing and experiment with different techniques. They will investigate issues for sustainability and life cycles of materials.
The student’s major product will utilise skills and knowledge gained to produce a major metal product like a clamp, vice or metal furniture.
Safe work practices are an integral part of all practical activities.

Tests and Homework 30%
• Folio – Research tasks Issue task, Investigation,
Devising and Evaluating task 20%
• Product – Group and Individual 50%
Length: One Semester.
SACE Attainment: 10 Credits.
