Recommended Knowledge: Year 10 Visual Art is recommended but is not a requirement.
Students will conceive, develop and make work(s) of art or design (2D or 3D) that reflect the development of a personal visual aesthetic.
They will apply technical skills in using media, materials and technologies to solve problems and resolve work(s) of art or design.
Students will be required to demonstrate visual thinking through the development and evaluation of ideas and explorations in technical skills with media, materials and technologies, as well as communicate knowledge and understanding of their own and other practitioners’ works of art or design.
Students will analyse, interpret and respond to visual arts in cultural, social and/or historical contexts.
This subject is delivered in different focus areas in line with student passions:
• Art or Design – Students have free choice in the materials and media they wish to use, but are directed in their visual thinking through themes.
• Digital – Students participate in observational drawing and animation with a focus on anatomy and character design, whilst using the digital WACOM tablets.
• Visual Arts (Watercolour) – Students participate in a range of guides tutorials in watercolour and subject matter to develop a multitude of skills when using watercolours.
• Visual Arts (3D) – Students are exposed to a range of materials, where they develop different sets of skills, in order to create 3D artworks. Students complete an adult, human sized 3D clay bust for their final project.

Length: One Semester.
SACE Attainment: 10 Credits.
