Learning Area: Business, Enterprise and Technology – Material Studies
Students focus on properties of wood based materials, and how to work with them, as well as the use of technology in wood based manufacturing industries.
The program has a practical orientation with supporting investigation and design work built in. The focus of this course is furniture construction.
Students will investigate different techniques, issues for sustainability and life cycles of materials and joining techniques of materials.
The student’s major product will utilise skills and knowledge gained to produce a structure such as a cabinet. Safe use of the panel saw and machine shop operations is taught.
Safe work practices are an integral part of all practical activities.

• Folio – Research tasks Issue task, Investigation,

• Product – Group and Individual 50%
Length: One Semester.
SACE Attainment: 10 Credits.
