Subject Name: Workplace Practices
Level: Stage 2
Learning Area: Business, Enterprise & Technology
Recommended Knowledge: C grade in Stage 1 Personal Learning Plan (PLP).
The focus of the learning program is on Industry and Work Knowledge and Vocational Learning.
Topics undertaken include:
• Work in Australian Society
• The Changing Nature of Work and
• Finding Employment
This includes students applying for a mock job and sitting for a mock interview. Students part-time employment or work placement (in line with their VET Program where relevant), is used to assess a student’s performance in Vocational Learning.
There will be a significant emphasis on Work Health and Safety throughout the course and students will be expected to reflect on their learning both in the workplace and from their experiences in the subject.
The External Assessment consists of a Practical or Issues Investigation which should be a maximum of 2000 words if written or a maximum of 12 minutes if oral, or the equivalent in multimodal form.

Length: Full Year.
SACE Attainment: 20 Credits.
Delivery Mode: Onsite, face to face, with excursions and guest speakers.
Costing: $10 – to cover transport costs for excursions.
Additional Information: Assessment Task Two requires students to attend a class excursion to a Careers Expo. Assessment Task Three requires students to undertake 50 to 60 hours of negotiated Work-placement.
