Recommended Knowledge: C grade or better in Year 9 Technology.
One term will consist of Woodwork and one term will consist of Metalwork.
Students focus on properties of wood based materials, and how to work with them, as well as the use of technology in wood based manufacturing industries. The program has a practical orientation with supporting investigation and design work built in.
The focus of this course is furniture construction. They will investigate different techniques, issues for sustainability and life cycles of materials and joining techniques of materials. Their major product will utilise skills and knowledge gained to produce a structure such as a table or stool.
Metal work focuses on the skills used in the metal trades as well as a unit of art metal and jewellery construction. Metal lathe work, welding and silver soldering is taught.
Safe work practices are an integral part of all practical activities.

Length: One Semester.
