Pedal Prix

Information about the Pedal Prix, with links to Special Features and to Home.

Pedal Prix is a chance for students to be involved in an exciting form of racing. It is an excellent way to be a part of a team. Students are involved in fitness, fundraising and vehicle preparation. The Vehicles are pedalled and are based on Bicycle components. They are three wheeled recumbent vehicles, which means that you sit in them with your legs in front of you. They are built to a very strict set of rules. The vehicles have to pass a scrutineering process before every race and safety in paramount. There are three races each year. These are six-hour races in May and July at the Victoria Park Race Track and a Twenty Four Hour race at Murray Bridge in September. The Murray Bridge race has two hundred and forty entries. Each Secondary team has eight riders and each primary team has sixteen riders. Include parents, officials and spectators and the racetrack becomes a City for the weekend. It is certainly a fantastic atmosphere.

We are always chasing sponsorship. Our current sponsors are International Power, Oakbank Pizza Bar and MJS tree and Stump removal. A large audience at the races sees the vehicles and it is usually on the television news. It is also in our yearbook and newsletters.
