Ikeda Senior High School Visit 2007

Our Japanese sister school - Ikeda Senior High School visited Oakbank Area school for two weeks during July and August.

Twenty seven students and two teachers were hosted by local school families. The students were fully immersed in an English program taught by two teachers. They went on many excursions and also participated in many activities with junior and primary students, concluding with a farewell Sayonara party.

Our first group of students visited Ikeda in 2006 and was so successful that another group is visiting in September/October 2007.

Oakbank Area School has a sister school agreement with Ikeda Senior High School.

As part of our agreement, there is an annual exchange between the two schools.  This exchange allows students and their families from both schools to develop friendships and gain a strong understanding of Japanese and Australian cultures and language.

Students and staff from Ikeda Senior High School visit Oakbank early in Term 3, and students, staff and parents from Oakbank Area School visit late in Term 3.
