School Times and Attendance
It is compulsory for students to attend school between the ages of 6 and 16. At Oakbank Area School we believe that punctuality and attendance lead to better student outcomes and it is crucial for students to transition into the workplace.

All school closures and holidays are notified in the school newsletter.

School begins at 8:45am and finishes at 3:10pm, and buses leave the school grounds at 3:20pm.

Lateness
The following are school procedures in regard to lateness:

• All students must sign in at the Front Office on arrival if they are late
• Students must have a note explaining the reason for lateness
• Continued lateness will be followed up with parents.

Leaving the School Grounds
Students are not permitted to leave the school grounds during the day unless:

• They have a crucial family matter or medical/dental appointments, which cannot be booked outside of regular hours. Parents must advise the school in writing or telephone. Students or parents must sign out via the front office on departure.

Sickness and Accidents
Students who feel ill during the day report to the Front Office, with the approval of their teacher. In the event of an accident or illness requiring medical attention, parents/caregivers will be contacted. No student is sent home unless a parent or nominated emergency contact person is contacted.
